| From his wrinkled forehead to his tightly-curled tail, the BASENJI is UNIQUE among dogs. Down through time this ancient breed found its way into the palaces of the pharoahs of Egypt, but its true origins are deep in equatorial Africa. A perilous existence in the jungles of the Belgian Congo forged a sturdy, strong, adaptable little pack dog who despises the cold and wet, is wary of the dark, climbs trees, and thinks for himself. His short, fine coat sheds little and he has no doggy odour. The basenji is a loving companion, a sighthound who is safest in a secure area or on lead. His proud elegant demeanor masks an alert and mischievous intelligence that is often a challenge and a trial to HIS humans. |

Blackwings' Ebony Rose) "Maestro" and his sister "Onyx" sunning themselves in their yard in Airdrie while still residing in Canada. They have re-located to Auckland, New Zealand, where they are too occupied with chasing skinks to sun the day away. |

| Ch. Shamaron's Phoenix Rising completed his championship at the Red Deer show in November. This handsome Shamaron boy won Winners Male and Best in Sweepstakes at the Canadian National in 2009. Phoenix is the 36th home-bred champion for Shamaron Basenjis. |
